About the Journal

Indonesian Journal of Islam and Nature aims to advance scholarly understanding of the dynamic relationship between Islam and nature by providing an interdisciplinary academic platform that integrates Islamic studies, environmental science, social sciences, and public policy. The journal seeks to contribute to global and local discourses on environmental ethics, sustainability, and ecological governance through Islamic perspectives, with particular attention to the Indonesian and Global South contexts.

To achieve these aims, the journal has the following objectives:

  1. To develop and disseminate Islamic perspectives on environmental ethics and sustainability, grounded in Qur’anic teachings, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, and contemporary Islamic thought.

  2. To promote interdisciplinary research that connects Islamic studies with ecology, environmental governance, climate change, agriculture, and sustainable development.

  3. To encourage empirical and policy-oriented studies examining the role of Islamic institutions, communities, and movements in environmental protection and natural resource management.

  4. To facilitate critical dialogue between religion, science, and public policy, particularly in addressing ecological crises, climate change, and environmental justice.

  5. To document and analyze local wisdom and community-based environmental practices inspired by Islamic values, especially within Indonesian and Muslim societies.

  6. To contribute to global sustainability agendas, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by offering normative, institutional, and practical insights rooted in Islamic traditions.

  7. To support the development of environmentally responsive Islamic education and da’wah, fostering ecological awareness and ethical responsibility among Muslim communities.
